The Kerryman Dingle Half Marathon has won the “Half Marathon of the Year 2015” in the Running in Ireland Race Awards 2015. With other nominees including high profile events such as the Dublin Race Series Half Marathon and the Dublin RocknRoll Half Marathon this is a resounding endorsement of the huge success and appeal of the event.
2015 saw the seventh Full and Half Marathons take place last September around the spectacular Dingle peninsula. The course consisted of a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and a Full Marathon (26.2 miles) which traversed the spectacular Dingle peninsula. This has now become one of the busiest weekends in Dingle with runners travelling from 24 countries to take part in the 2015 event.
Race Director Ken Dunne said: “We are thrilled to have received this award which is fantastic endorsement of everything which Dingle has to offer. We set up this event in 2009 not be just another running event, but to be an event of international standard and appeal. It is brilliant that this work has been recognised and we want to thank everyone who ran, walked, organised, volunteered, supported, cheered on or helped in any way. We are truly delighted and can’t wait for this years event on September 3rd which is already firmly on track to be sell-out in advance, with 2,500 runners and walkers due to take part. Already for 2016 we have over 100 overseas runners registered from countries including Denmark, Sweden, South Africa, USA, Portugal and Switzerland to name just a few”.
